I once told the Chairman of Gallup that his idea to have 24 Gallup Senior Scientists was one of the smartest business concepts I’d ever seen — he had two dozen brilliant people — Nobel prize winners included – as his brain trust to help him decide what important questions to ask the world for the next hundred years in the Gallup World Poll, among other things.
I met several of these advisors and had phenomenally productive conversations with some of them.
Fast forward several years.
I’m now running Soar — an AI Studio designed to uplift humanity in all areas of life.
Soar now has 24 senior advisors who earn equity by helping me each month in group calls and in 1:1 meetings with me and my portfolio company CEOs.
The best advice I’ve ever gotten in my life came from Soar advisors in the last two weeks.
I’m grateful for good advice from good people.
One of the key pieces of advice from Dr. Don Clifton, author of Soar With Your Strengths, and father of said Gallup Chairman mentioned above, is that everyone of us should have our own personal “Board of Directors” who can help us navigate life in all its dimensions.
I’m going to ask my AI developers to make sure that as we build thousands of AI agents to help people succeed at work and in life, that we first and foremost design our platform to connect people with other people – people whose wisdom and caring can help our customers even more than AI ever will.
This year we are launching a Family Portal, a Coach Portal, a Faith Portal and a Friend Portal — so connecting people is at the heart of what we do.
Facebook misleads billions of people by making them think they have hundreds or thousands of friends.
A real friend is rare.
We are each fortunate to have a small number of priceless friendships.
Those true friendships need to be treasured and nurtured.
Which is hard to do if you’re spending hours every day scrolling on your device hoping for thousands of likes from your “friends” on your last post, or binge-watching Netflix.
“Strengths Only Develop in Relation to Another Human Being” said Don Clifton.
What if AI helps you figure out who your real friends are and deepen bonds there, helps you value your family heritage and family ties, and carefully select your personal advisors or board of directors to help you thrive at work and in life.
AI designed to do that — to connect us to the people who can help us most — can help all of us have ah-ha moments like my advisors gave to me this month!
