In the last week two major organizations (government and non-profit) immediately shrugged off an invitation to try the most innovative AI tools I’ve ever demo’d by saying: “we are a Microsoft shop” and “we are a Google shop.”
Maddening.
It reminded me of the old TV commercial that IBM used to run with the message that “no one ever got fired for buying IBM.”
AI is moving so fast.
But if a large portion of government employees are so tied to using tech ONLY from multi trillion dollar companies and won’t even try AI from startups — we are in trouble.
Already trillion dollar companies are more powerful than nation-states.
They already control so much of our economy and of information flow.
How can we loosen their death grip on government employees?
How can we make sure open source decentralized AI tools are available to everyone in the public and private sector?
