My kids had me laughing today (and wiping a couple tears) when they surprised me with a Zoom call to wish me Happy Father’s Day
They each said what they love about me and what they are grateful for. It was pretty awesome.
Being a dad is a source of wonder and joy.
It’s seems miraculous — or at the very least astonishing — that average humans like all of us can possibly be part of creating new life — watching little ones come into being, with their unique personalities, and then watching them learn and grow and develop into adults.
I’m really thankful for my wife and each one of my kids.
My AI assistant SoarScribe joined the call to record and transcribe the event – just because it was on my calendar.
No one mentioned the extra guest. I don’t even know if they noticed.
But for me, because of AI this surprise Father’s Day gift will be a gift that keeps giving.
Since it was recorded, transcribed and indexed by SoarScribe, I’ll be able to instantly find these sweet things the kids said to me and about me for the rest of my life!!
Soar will be launching a Family Portal soon so that millions of families can do family meetings, share memories, interview relatives for oral histories, and have all of this content easily searchable, clippable and shareable.
My dear friend Iryna Savytska is founder of Bank of Memories — a block chain company for family history content — and we hope to form a partnership with her so Family Portal users can have peace of mind about the permanence of their treasured memories.
——-> Final note: my AI assistant didn’t say a single thing it loves about me. So disappointing! And even if it had it wouldn’t have been real. My kids on the other hand do bring me joy. I’m 100% sure that no matter how advanced AI tools get they’ll never be a source of real love or real joy — the way family is — except in helping us remember in high fidelity the people and moments that are.Activate to view larger image,
