My brother was a witness at a state hearing recently for a bill that proposed to raise funds for the state at the expense of hundreds of thousands of the most vulnerable people.
His testimony (and the research he had done in advance) turned the tide and the bill was voted down.
He was one of only a handful of people in the hearing.
Individual citizens in the United States can make a difference if they show up at the right time, are well informed, and can communicate their position.
It happens literally every day at school board meetings, city council meetings, state hearings and even in the federal branches of government.
With the decline of newspapers and traditional journalism, the Fourth Estate has been in free fall.
It’s hard to keep track of what’s going on.
Because of that, citizens trust in government has dropped while the cost of winning elections has soared.
It just doesn’t feel right.
Thankfully, the power of AI can be harnessed to help citizens become better informed than ever before, to know when to show up, and to hold elected officials accountable to “we the people” as they spend trillions of dollars annually at both the federal and state/local levels and make policies and pass laws that affect all of our lives?
How much do you value your citizenship?
Are you willing to volunteer time to promote transparency and accountability at every level of government?
Are you willing to join a movement that seeks to do this in a way that treats every citizen and elected official with the respect and civility that human beings deserve, rather than with contempt and hatred?
If this sounds interesting to you, DM me or vote Yes or Maybe below.
You can volunteer to bring more transparency to your city or state government.
There are tasks to be done every day that will help you and your fellow citizens stay informed and get engaged in an effective way.
You can make a difference!
